Midlife crisis hits hard ...

I cannot believe it. I bought a red Miata! I think my sister said it best. It's a case of full blown midlife crisis. I don't know what else I can say about that. I do like driving it very much. I am still not a great driver, which worries me some. I am practicing at night times. Watch out everyone.

My football teams lose yet again ...

So Cardinals and Vikings are losers once again this week. They are both 2-5. I am not sure what is the problem. On the paper they are both division champs, but they are way under performing. I guess it is the Sports Illustrated jinks once again.

I went to Palo Verde Golf Course to hit some balls. Boy, I was off today. I hit them fat, short, and to the right. If I am sane, then I really should never pick up golf clubs again. Only upside was hitting the tractor gathering golf balls. That really felt good.

I am still learning to drive stick and Sinziana helped me today. She seemed a little nervous, but she felt better after I started to drive. I am happy to say I brought her back to her husband in one piece and safe. I think manual is more fun. I think I will be buying 2006 Miata any day now. It will be sweet.

Movie Recommendation: I liked "Stand By Me" from my recent rentals. It is great to see a fine actor like River Phoenix in a movie. It is too bad about his early demise. I really liked his works like "Mosquito Coast", "My Own Private Idaho", and others.

Beer Update: It is still bubbling so I am going to give another week before bottling.

Learning to drive manual transmission and other updates ...

I wanted a Miata since I was in high school. It is a convertible, which is rearwheel driven, mid-engine, and handles well. What is not to like? Maybe it's girly image! I guess you cannot win everything. I am learning to drive manual transmission as no one suggests getting an automatic at all for this car. I am still making mistakes, but it is more fun than automatic. I guess I will be practicing frequently.

I'd been busy last weekend. Friday was a vino party with Trace and his gang. Saturday was a salmon bake at Danielle's. Sunday was learning to drive and breakfast with Azagras. Sunday evening was with my usual suspects (Rampleys, Parnells, etc, etc). There is a picture of Cameron at the top. Cool!

This weekend was fast and furious. More good news. Red birds and purple people eaters (aka Cardinals and Vikings) both won. Yeah! Now they are at dismal 2-4.

I have noticed that there are people who leaves me spam as comments for my blog. I wish they would stop.

Beer Update: Super Saison is being aged with oak chips and it is at least another week away from bottling.

The State Fair corn dogs did not taste so great ...

I went to the State Fair with my little brother last Saturday. I wanted to go since I have not gone in years. I also wanted to take some pictures. I picked up the little and off we went.

We went through the McDowell entrance, where painted model horses were displayed. I really liked the Starry Night horse and the Mexican horse. We were there during the midday and it was not busy. We went on the ferris wheel where I took some photos of the whole area. It was a little scary at first. My little went on a couple of overpriced rides and played carny games. We saw some over grown rabbits, a goat contest, and other livestock. We also saw some photos and other hobbies displayed.

Here is the downer. I was craving corn dogs. You know how one remember fondly about carny food. It was so not what I remembered. I think there must have used the worst wiener. Yuk! Otherwise, it was a great little visit.

Beer update: I added three little scoops of oak chips to the Super Saison. I hope this adds some complexies people will wonder about.

Movie recommendation: A documentary called "Inside Deep Throat" is look at the time and people surrounding the porn flick with same name. It is fascinating.

I am going to make you an offer you cannot refuse ...

Do you remember Brando as the Godfather? Making you an offer you can't refuse. Well, I was asked to be a godfather. I was told that occasionally I would have to attend their church. I said yes without any hesitation, of course. I am happy to be a godfather to a great friends' son. I know I am not asked to be the kind of godfather I have seen in the movies, but I can still dream, right? Have a godson who would kiss your ring everytime. I might have to get a fat ring anyway. Watch some more Italian mob movies and develop fake accent. May be grease my hair.

Beer Update: Saison is still going strong. I might add some spices like orange peels, star anise, etc. I guess I sould taste some when the fermentation stops first.

I got an obscene phone call and other happenings ...

I got my first obscene phone call yesterday. It was a faint heavy breathing. I had no idea I had such a following. While I am not spooked or anything, but it seems so pointless.

I have a good friend who owns a property in Oak Creek. We all met up there to camp as there is not a building on it right now. It was nice to camp. Eating outdoor, camp fire, S'mores, and other usual activities were welcome change for all of us. I slept in my sleeping bag under the clear sky. Others slept in tents, trailer, and SUV. I really enjoyed sleeping outside. I should do this more often. I took many pictures, but I did not like most of them. Oh, well.

Beer update: My super saison is fermenting very well now. I am glad it did not get stuck like I thought it might.
