What The F***...

I have not been this upset about a study ever. I just read a Yahoo article stating taller people are smarter. It is not enough that taller people make more money, but now they are smarter. According to the article, taller people do better on cognitive tests.

I am hurt by this. As a not so tall person, I am looking for any advantages for being a short person. So far zero for two. No money and dumb. What next?

I question the study and wanted to read more, but the link required money to actually read the study. I hope this is peer reviewed and is valid in some way, because half the population just lost their self esteem.

Most Frequently Used Tech Support Answer ...

Last couple of days, I've been having a problem closing the garage door using my remote. The door has always behaved abnormally on humid days. I was thinking the problem would go away when humidity went away. Well, the problem persisted. I was starting to be concerned.

I decided today that I need to investigate into my garage door problem. I went to the garage door opener manufacturer's website to check out their FAQs and help sections. It was not too helpful. Everything seemed foreign. I was getting frustrated and annoyed that I cannot seemed get some straight forward answers.

I was thinking that I should just unplug and replug in the garage door opener just like a computer. I mean it couldn't hurt to try it. I also found much later a vendor's FAQ that suggested just the method I was thinking.

It worked like a charm. The number one answer to any tech support questions, "Have you tried resetting or turning the equipment off and on?", worked again.

Pluto Gets Delisted ...

Pluto is no longer a planet according to astronomical experts. Check out this article if you don't believe me. It is extra sad for anyone who knows about Arizona connection to Pluto. Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto in 1930 from Lowell observatory in Flagstaff.

I was aware of a controversy for about five years now. I heard from a colleague, whose fiance worked for ASU Astronomy Department, that Pluto is considered too small, and its orbit resembles more of a comet.

I am sad indeed as I really enjoyed the only Disney like planet name although it is named after Roman god of hell.

I Think My Hair Is Going Afro ...

Many has told that I am lucky to have such a thick set of hair. Well, I disagree. My mental picture of what I might look like if I grew my hair out came true when I watched the above video. Scary! Anyone who knew me back in college days (specifically freshman year) knows what I mean. You have to check out the funny Japanese dance video above.

Are You Bored?

Check out these websites listed as 50 top sites to check out by Times Magazine. I really enjoy the 9 from Yahoo everyday. I also like Rocket Boom very much.

Picture: This is a modern house that is being built in my neighborhood. Ole fogies were protesting how this house would not fit in with other houses. I think it looks pretty good.

Free Movie Anyone?

Did you know Netflix is showing free movies where they were shot? Netflix showed Raising Arizona in Apache Junction last night. In fact, it was at the beautiful Lost Dutchman State Park. Luckily, I was able to get a friend, Josh, to go at the last minute. I was not sure I was going to go.

Drive to, sunset, ambiance, location, and everything else I cannot think of were all great. Did I mention two babies from the movies was there? Even better, we had Lisa Loeb there. Cool!

Only uncool part was the singing contest! Groups of people who were there early to scavenge hunt and compete for an air streamer also had to sing as a competition. Wow. What torture!

Who Went to Church?

Oui, moi. I went to church. Of course, it is not my favorite thing to do, but I gave into parental pressure.

I have been feuding with my parents about going to church for years. I gave in after going through their harassment, and witnessing their agony of having a non-church going son. I mean it is not like I was going to win anyway. I also don't think I can disown them.

I have decided against lying to parents about going to church. I am too old to lie about things to parents. I have decided early this year that I would attend enough Sunday services so I can tell parents that I recently attended a Sunday service. Well, this weekend is one of those times I need to go.

It was quite an adventure going to church today. I fell down on my hands and knees after kicking the curve while crossing Lincoln Drive. I was not hurt and there were not any incoming traffic. Only my ego was bruised. I cannot remember the last time I fell down on my hands and knees.

I had to sit through a modern service music and a bad sermon. Call me an old fogey, but I don't think modern Christian rock and stuff is for Sunday services. I also hated youth minister's delivery of often side tracked and trying to be funny kind of sermon. What an awful morning!!!!

More Time Lapsed Video ...

I was awoken by my dog, Cenya, last night. It was raining accompanied by thunder. I guess my dog was scared. I went out to my backyard to check it out. The rain was steady but not heavy. There were not visible lightnings, but areas are occasionally lit up. Too bad, I thought as I would like to have tried photographing lightnings again. I decided instead to time lapse video. Enjoy.

Conan, The Barbarian?

My friends Jim and Beth are naming their new dog, Conan. This little cute pup is an American Mastiff. It is a designer dog bred specifically to counter some of the natural shortcomings, such as drooling, of regular Mastiffs. I wrote about this pup before here.

I know Jim really likes Conan movies, so the pup cannot be named after the late night talk show host. I am still wondering, if Conan is named after the "Barbarian" or "Destroyer." I am hoping Conan is named after "Barbarian." Destroyer sounds so negative and destructive.

Apparently Conan is a "boob" man. According to their breeder, Jennifer, it is hard to get Canon away from the nursing dog. I thought that was kind of funny.

Gum Incident
I was driving back home on last Friday. I smelled subtle odor of spearmint. I thought to myself, someone is chewing a large amount of gum nearby or in a car nearby. I smelled this spearmint odor all the way home. Sometimes strong, sometimes faint, but the odor was persistent. How curious?

As I pulled up in my garage, I found out the reason for the persistent odor. It was a glob of gum I stepped on just prior to getting in my car. I felt the glob stretching as I got out of my car. I cursed my luck! I guess the karma is telling me to be a better person.

Have You Ever Been Burgled?

I took my little dog, Cenya, for a walk around my block. I ran into early risers who were taking their morning walks or walking their dogs. A couple of old men stopped to chat with me about a recent burglary in our neighborhood. Wow, a controversy!

Both warned me to lock the house down. Well, I still do not think I need to get all hysterical. I will lock my front door, but not much more.

I thought about how I felt when my car was broken into many moons ago. I remember feeling very helpless. I very much hated that the perpetrator broke the side window more than taking of the stereo. AHHHHHHH!

I still like to think that we can trust our neighbors and be able to leave doors open. Just like that one town in Ohio featured on CBS Sunday Morning.

I Look Like Who?

I recently started watching a daily show called The 9 from Yahoo. It lists 9 things to check out on the web each day. Today, it showed a website, my heritage, that takes your picture and matches with celebrity pictures. I have never felt so attractive after checking out my matches. Check them out.
