Foozer concert was awesome.

I went to Foo Fighters/Weezer concert last night with two great friends from Tucson. You know who you are. I met up with them at Jackson at third. I parked in front of the County jail for the first time. I guess I was too cheap to park closer. I also figured who would steal a car in front of a camera rich environment.

I so enjoyed Weezer. They are little easier on my ear drums, and there was not any mosh put type activities. There were some songs I did not know since I do not have their last album. It was good to hear Sweater Song, Hash Pipe, Island in the Sun, I am Jonas, and others. I wanted more.

Foo Fighters was also good, but I felt a little old for the energy of the crowd. Foo Fighters was a border line heavy metal and I guess I don't dig it as much. I knew about half of the songs, but I have not listened in sometime. Mosh pit activity was not quite my thing.

It was good to go to a good concert like this one. I felt so much more alive just enjoying music.

Suddenly inspired to go hit golf balls ...

I have a couple of golf clubs stationed out on patio in the backyard. I just like to swing and whack the heck out of weeds. I was swinging the clubs and adjusted my technique in the hopes of improving. I must say adjustments felt great. The adjustments are bringing left arm straight back to my chin, cocking the club 90 degrees at the top, and swing all the way through fast. I have been itching to go out to a public range for some hitting. I finally made it out today. I am hitting longer and straighter. Feeling pretty good.

Beer update: My saison is bubbling away slowly and nicely. I am a happy camper.

My beer is prematurely done fermenting ...

I brewed last Friday a Belgian beer called saison. It is a rustic beer with a wide flavor profile. Since it is fermented at high temperatures, there are many flavors that do not show up in clean tasting beer (boring some says) like German lagers and British ales (to a less degree).

My saison is of the heaviest kind. It is starting at 1.080 specific gravity, which means it should be about 9% abv. YEAH! I hope this turns out to be a big tasting beer. Within a few hours of brewing, the beer started to show signs of fermenting. Air bubbling through and smell of sweet malt in the air only lasted about two days. It should be going for at least two or three more days. I thought may be it was a vigorous and fast. I decided to transfer to another clean vessel for secondary fermenting/aging.

I found that the beer was stuck at 1.045 specific gravity. Sample tasted too sweet. Oh, no. I may have to pitch another batch of yeast. Lucky for me that I saw a sign of fermentation restarting. Very slowly but surely, air bubble started to come up the air lock. YES! I guess I will tough it out and just wait for the specific gravity to drop to the right level.

I think my left leg is longer.

I have been told that all humans have limbs of different size. As I have observed my anatomy while practicing yoga postures, my left leg seems to be longer. This discovery is eye opening, because I now understand what people have been saying about my walking is true. People have been saying that I have this great gangsta walk after road races or more commonly a limp. I guess hard races bring out the inequity in length of my legs. I feel a little like Frankenstein.

Movie recommendation: I am recommending a movie called "Born into Brothels." It is about kids who lives with prostitute mothers in Indian red-light district. It is good to see how kids are so appreciative and long for better future. It is eye opening for people who are sheltered like myself to bad things in the world. I like the medium the documentary uses to deliver the story, which is the photos taken by the kids. I understand this movie won Oscar for the best documentary. I really liked this movie.

All my teams lost today.

Oh, the woe of the first week of NFL. My beloved Minnesota Vikings blew their season opener to Tampa Bay. Dante had five turnovers. I am still optimistic that they will be much better for rest of the season. In addition, Arizona Cardinals lost to New York Giants. It hurts a little because I have decided to root for the home town team, the Cardinals. I hope the Cardinals lose thier losing ways this season. I was also rooting for Andre Agassi to win his third US Open today, but Roger Federer beat Andre handily. I am batting zero for three today. STRIKE OUT!

Movie recommendations: Crash is a must see for all human beings. This movie describes our prejudices and human conditions better than any movies I have seen. At least the ones I can remember. Acting in this movie is superb. Writing is fabulous. Characters are all flawed like regular people and their prejudices are very pronounced, but they all have redeemable qualities. Please watch this movie. We can talk about this movie for a long time.

Grandma is so generous.

I took my grandma to her rheumatoid arthritis doctor yesterday. I got to spend sometime with her afterward, because she needed to wait for her ride home. We had a chance to watch a little bit of New Orleans news footage together and chatted little about the misery people were facing. I felt the strongest charitable emotions ever in my life. I cannot hardly stand the misery those poor people were experiencing.

I asked Grandma if we should donate some money. I was not expecting the response I got back. She said, "is a hundred dollars enough?" WHAT? A hundred dollars!! Let me tell you about my grandmother. She is living on social security check. She is a penny pincher like the most WWII era citizens. I mean she refuses to throw away things. I was very touched by her generosity and humanity. I was expecting about twenty dollars. Well, I asked for it. I decided to match her effort and donate a hundred dollars myself.

I decided to talk to my parents about donating this morning. I drove over to their store and told them about the grandma's donation, which was so effortless. I think mother was impressed and proud of her mother. I got another hundred dollars. Today, I filled out a donation to Red Cross for two hundred dollars, which will be in the mail first thing Tuesday. I donated my hundred on-line. I am so very proud of Grandma!!!!!
